Comfort

Last year on Christmas Eve, my cat Basia died. Last night, Zbyszko, her brother and litter-mate, joined her.

My Finn is now an only child and he is 15 years old. I shouldn't have gotten my cats within a few years of each other. : (

My sister-in-law from Green Bay had my name for Christmas this year. Here is a pic of my partially unwrapped Christmas present:


This was after a good long period of unwrapping too. The books were completely wound around with yarn instead of wrapping paper with the remainder of the two skeins on top with knitting needles stuck through them. It took forever to unwind the yarn. : )

The books are the new Stephen King book and a first edition copy of his "Salem's Lot". I guess I will have to be extra careful when I read that one. The only other first edition books I have would be ones that I bought when they were brand new and thus totally by accident. : ) As I recently also dug out my copy of "The Stand" from my bookshelves, I can have a King marathon this winter.

Went out this morning to do a little shopping before the snow/sleet/slush/rain/ice starts. The Supertarget wasn't at all bad- there was just one woman in line ahead of me and she was just about done. I stopped at a few more places and made it home in plenty of time. At least right now, we are getting the snow part. That is on top of the 4 inches we got yesterday.

I hope the driving is okay for Christmas. I just have to drive 6 miles but others have quite a bit more to drive. Of course, last year I had to drive the 150 miles to my brother's house in very heavy fog......

I finished up the sweater I was knitting for myself to wear for Christmas. It is now drying on my bed with the ceiling fan blowing on it. I'll probably stick it on the towel warmer when it is time to go to bed.

I think that tonight I will watch Hogfather. It has become my tradition to reread or watch it this time of year. : )

Tomorrow I have to stuff dates with gorgonzola cheese and wrap them in soprasetta salami to take along on Christmas. Yum!
